best ski bindings

Question: What ski’s would be best for me? (Skis, boots, bindings)?
I’m not looking to rent ski’s unless I have to..I’d rather just buy it straight out instead of spending all that money and not owning it..

-2nd year skiing
-Might be able to do blue trails
-5’7 175lbs Male

What’s the cheapest, but best setup you guys can recommend?

I don’t care about brands or looks, as long as they work.

Buy the best fitting boots you can find. A pair of 155 to 160 cm all mountain skis with bindings in good to excellent condition can usually be found on the used market for $ 200 to $ 400. Try C list, and Ebay, also try some of the ski sales that are held in the fall. This spring you may find some sales from instructors who are retiring a pair from last season so they can buy a good pair next fall.

Get the most comfortable boots you can find, and try and get recommendations from someone who works at a ski shop. If you don’t want to go to a ski shop, look around online, and when you think you found a good ski, read plenty of reviews and do your homework on them, and if possible, demo them somewhere. The bindings all depend on the ski, you’ll find a recommendation for a certain binding for your ski somewhere.

Some mountains sell their rentals and demos at a reduced price and have ski swaps for used equipment. Try on at least 5 styles of boots to find the best fit. Comfort can really help when learning to ski. When you get better you will want a stiffer boot for performance or if you want to start racing but for now a good front entry 4 buckle boot that is comfortable will be best.

The skis and bindings and boots should be based on how much you plan on skiing. If you go less than 4 time a year. Rent till you can buy better equipment. If you are athletic and want to ski more than 10 times a year you should look into more expensive equipment it will really help. Between 5- 10 times a year can be tricky because you don’t want to out perform your Skis and bindings and want more expensive skis next year. Go to a ski shop and learn what you can get for your money, study the level you are currently at and the level you want to get to, to help making the right decision. If you just want want to ski for the least amount of money make sure you look into used prices and what level skier you will be with this equipment in 2 to 3 years.
