Question: Is it me, or has the quality of clothing gone downhill in the past decade?
Cotton blended with cheap polyester, denim so paper thin you could tear it apart with your bare hands, what’s wrong with all the cheap textiles used for clothing nowadays? Used to, you could get quality, durable clothing, even if it was imported! Now it ALL sucks. Before long I’ll be wearing a barrel.

Artfully combining sociology, psychology, and feminist theory, here is a fascinating and entertaining look at how women can use humor to their advantage. This witty–and at times deliciously ribald–book examines women’s humor and shows how the proper punchline can work wonders on the street, in the bedroom, and even in the corporate boardroom.

Question: What one thing should I purchase at REI to start my foray into outdoor sports?
I am a native Oregonian going to school in Arizona. I have always been into the outdoors (camping, hiking, skiing, etc), but, of course, before I was 18 this was all financed by my parents. Now that I’m living on my own and have recently gotten back into these things, I am trying to slowly gather the necessary equipment without breaking the bank. For Christmas, my father (who supports these endeavors), gave me an REI gift certificate for $ 100. (For those of you not familiar with REI, it’s just a large outdoor sporting-goods store.)
I am curious what you think is the most important thing to purchase in order to begin enjoying activities such as hiking, canyoneering and rock climbing. Of course, for the moment I do all of these things as hobbies, and items that multi-task would be great. My dad thinks the first investment would be good shoes. At present, I am using two pairs of shoes (crosstrainers and a running shoes) for these activities, as well as cycling in my Converse as needed (I know – wince all you want).
Just wanted others’ opinions before I made a purchase! Shoes? Jacket, backpack?
Thanks!

Question: My boat will go into gear, but when I give it gas it barely goea any faster than if i was idle. Any Advice?
It’s a 1988 16ft Javelin Fish n Ski, 90 hp V4 Evenrude. I’ve bought the boat a few months ago, It had been stored in a barn for several years. I had it out 2 or 3 times, ran ok, but wanted to have it checked out. I took it to shop for an inspection/tune up, Then went out 2 more times, a few hours each time with no problems. Last Monday, I took it out, it cranked up beautifully, ran great for 30 min, I stopped to fish a cove, went to leave cove and put it in gear (foward) and couldn’t get it any faster than just above idle speed. Also, when this happened, I think it started idleing higher when in neutral. It’s a 1988 16ft Javelin Fish n Ski, 90 hp V4 Evenrude. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Question: Are snow pants the same as ski pants?
I have an old pair of snow pants that came with a coat when I was younger, like it came as a set. Im going skiing soon and I was wondering if theyre basically the same as the ski pants you buy at sports stores. They have straps that are removeable but seem a little thicker then the ski pants sold at stores. (mine are basically what i used to use when I was in elemntary to play in the snow) anyways thanks!

Question: I want to move. Where should I go?
It looks like the warm and wet weather has messed up all of the ski hills in southern Ontario. I’m also bored of all of the baby hills in this area and want to ride on some real mountains, in powder. I want to go some place where I can snowboard 3 times a week and not worry about crappy spring weather so early.
So where should I move? I’m thinking Vancouver.
